What made you pick this particular course?
I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare to become a physiotherapist. I wanted to gain experience while studying and this course was a perfect pick for me.

What have been the highlights?
I have really enjoyed my work placement as I have been able to see the reality of healthcare which has further inspired me to work in this environment. It has also widened my knowledge with how a hospital functions.

Did you undertake any work experience?
Yes, I worked at North Devon District Hospital for work experience, through the NHS. My experience was so beneficial and amazing. It has further confirmed my knowledge and passion for the NHS.

What do you plan to do when you leave Petroc?
Go to university to study physiotherapy.

Any advice for someone picking the same course?
If you’re considering going into health care, join! It will be worth your time.

What made you pick this particular course/ North Devon College?
I have always been interested in animals and medical related topics and doing animal care here allows me to experience a mix of those topics.

What did/do you most enjoy about studying at North Devon College e.g. trips, visits, project?
The practical sessions where we learn and practice medical care like CPR, bandaging, blood samples, use of medical tools and more.

Did you undertake any work experience throughout your studies? How did you find your experience? And do you think this work experience helped you decide your next steps?
I have been doing work experience at Medivet Northam which I found by looking local to my home and simply handed my CV in. This work experience has helped me make back up plans for after college if I don’t go to university.

What do you plan to do when you leave North Devon College (further study, career etc.)?
I hope to go to university and study a degree in a veterinarian course, and if that doesn’t go to plan I will do an apprenticeship at my work experience.

Any advice for someone thinking of choosing the same course as you?
I would say there is so much you can do going forward with this course.

What made you pick this particular course/ North Devon College?
I have always loved animals ever since I was little and it was my dream to work with animals no matter what job it is.

What did/do you most enjoy about studying at North Devon College e.g. trips, visits, project?
I love how many trip opportunities there are, for example Exmoor Zoo. I also love how many animals there are to work with in the animal centre.

Have you got involved in any Enrichment activities, if so, which ones, and what did you enjoy most about them?
I have not, at the moment.

Did you undertake any work experience throughout your studies? How did you find your experience? And do you think this work experience helped you decide your next steps?
Yes, I am currently doing work experience at Smoochy Poochy Dog Groomers in Braunton. I posted a facebook post asking for work experience and they reached out to me. My work experience has helped massively in my next steps.

What do you plan to do when you leave North Devon College (further study, career etc.)?
I am thinking of taking a gap year and then I am going to look into creating a dog walking business or train to be a dog groomer.

Any advice for someone thinking of choosing the same course as you?
There’s a lot of information you need to remember for exams so make sure to take rests and try not to burn yourself out. It’s all worth it in the end!

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
I came to Ã山ǿ¼ébecause of it’s location. It also offered the course which had work experience as a part of it, I wanted to study and do a placement.

What made you choose your course?
I chose this course because it covered the whole of primary age, from years one to six which is where I am going to work. I’ve always known I wanted to work in a primary setting.

What did you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
I most enjoyed all my lecturers on the course, and just the class, I’ve met friends for life in my class.

What are your future plans?
I got a job where I did my placement at Roundswell Primary School, I am going to be a Teaching Assistant. I am looking forward to supporting the children, getting to know them and what they need.

Any advice for someone choosing the same course as you?
I think T Levels gives you a direct route into employment or university after college, so if you know you want to work in the Childcare and Education industry, a T Level would work for you.

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
I came to Ã山ǿ¼ébecause it’s in Barnstaple which meant I didn’t have to travel far, and it offered the courses I wanted to do.

What made you choose your course?
I wanted to study Maths A Level so that I could go on to study Maths at university.

What did you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
The teachers were really good – they got me the grades I needed and were really approachable and helpful. You also learned to do things by yourself unlike when you’re at school. I also really enjoyed being part of the Basketball Academy.

What are your plans for the future?
I am going to study Maths at University of Cambridge, which I’m really looking forward to. I’m not sure what I want to do after uni but maths opens up loads of opportunities so I hope that I will get a better idea of options and careers when I’m at uni.

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
Ã山ǿ¼éis close to where I live so it was easy to walk to – and also it’s a really nice college!

What made you choose your course?
I chose my course mainly because I wanted to continue to study the sciences that I learnt at GCSE.

What did you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
The staff are really good and attentive. I also did two Academies – VETMED and Environmental Sustainability – which were really good and a great addition to my studies as they linked to the scenes that I was doing. I particularly enjoyed a trip to Lundy where we explored the island, saw puffins, and spoke to rangers about how they run the island.

What are your future plans?
I am heading to Swansea to study Zoology. I have always wanted to study animal or plant science. At first I thought about becoming a vet but zoology fitted more with the courses I wanted to study. I then hope to move into research and do a doctorate or work in the industry studying wildlife.

Do you have any advice for someone choosing the same course as you?
Find what works for you and make the most of your time as it goes really quickly!

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
Location was great – it meant that I could cycle in – and they offered the courses that I wanted to do.

What made you choose your course?
I got good GCSE grades in the subjects and enjoyed them so I wanted to continue with them.

What did you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
The quality of teaching was great, I couldn’t fault it. I also made lots of friends – its like a real community. I also got involved in the Oxbridge Academy which was really good at helping me prepare my application.

What are your future plans?
I’m going to university – I have a place at Exeter to study History and Archaeology but also have an offer reconsideration for Cambridge which I was delighted to receive. Once I have finished my degree I would ideally like to do a masters and perhaps become a lecturer.

Any advice for someone choosing the same course as you?
Don’t put too much stress on yourself. The courses can be tough but find aspects that you enjoy to focus your passions.
